Steps to Become a CS

The vast syllabus of Company Secretary is divided into 4 steps –

  • CS Foundation
  • CS Executive
  • Practical Training (21 Months)
  • CS Professional

CS Foundation

CS Foundation is an entry-level test in order to pursue Company Secretary Course. Foundation Programme can be pursued by 10+2 pass or equivalent students of Arts, Science or Commerce stream (Excluding Fine Arts). So, if you are a 10+2 passed student, you must start with foundation programme and follow it up with executive and professional programmes.

CS Foundation syllabus is divided into four subjects –

PART C: Business Communication (25 MARKS) 

Paper 3: BUSINESS ECONOMICS 

PART A: Economics (80 MARKS) 

PART B: Elementary Statistics (20 MARKS) 

Paper 4: FUNDAMENTALS OF ACCOUNTING AND AUDITING 

PART A: Fundamentals Of Accounting (70 MARKS) 

PART B: Fundamentals Of Auditing (30 MARKS)

CS Executive

CS Executive will be your next level in this journey after clearing CS Foundation. If you are a Bachelor’s Degree holder, you may choose to pursue executive programme through Direct entry Scheme and follow it up with professional programme. CS Executive syllabus is divided into eight subjects. The eight papers are divided into two modules each consisting of four subjects.

CMA Executive syllabus is divided into eight subjects –

Practical Training

Practical Training is the most important part of CS Curriculum and also referred as a golden period in the CS students journey. In the modern era, only bookish knowledge is enough .To be a professional, it is important to gain the practical knowledge which could not be possible without Practical Training. The students can start their practical training for 21 months after completing their executive programme under new training structure.

CS Professional

This is the last step in the Company Secretary Journey. Successful incumbents from the Executive Program progress into the final stage of studies for careers as Company Secretary. The Professional Program is Challenging of the three stages. It has a very comprehensive syllabus that is broadly divided into three modules.
